“Haunted Spaces: An Examination of Alternative Memorialization Practices via Live Performances of U2’s ‘Sunday, Bloody Sunday’.”

This article is published in the 2015 issue of the Journal of Communications Media Studies: Haunted Spaces

I drafted the first version of this article as a term paper for a doctoral class I took with Dr. Michael LeVan (Washington State University, Vancouver; Editor of the online journal, liminalities) when I was a student at the University of South Florida. Later, while developing the article into a full academic article, Dr. Susan Mackey-Kallis (Villanova University) provided support and Samantha Riegel (My love, and Mother of our three beautiful children) contributed editorial guidance.

It took me seven years to finally see the article accepted for publication. I refused to quit on this piece. I learned from every rejection, at times following reviewers’ comments to broaden my research in performance studies or making changes to the article’s organization; other times I refused to make changes to a section that I believed was important to the study.

I will publish more work on a variety of subjects in the future, but this one is closest to my heart. This one I had to fight for.
